COP 27 event on youth engagement and capacity building.

Impulsouth implements cross-country research about climate knowledge and capacity needs in Dominican Republic, Guatemala, Madagascar, Niger, Uganda and Zambia. For this purpose, it supports national institutions and master students with research grants. By encouraging the use of similar research methodologies, Impulsouth is enabling countries to share best practices and learn from each other’s success and challenges.

Impulsouth aims to equip young climate leaders with skills and capacities to develop, implement and report progress on national climate action. It offers a six month certified online course for 84 young climate professionals from the public, private and civil society sectors in Dominican Republic, Guatemala, Madagascar, Niger, Uganda and Zambia. By the end of the course, participants will propose a climate initiative, eligible for being supported technically and financially on Impusouth’s Solutions Lab.

Impulsouth will support the implementation of key climate initiatives led by young leaders from the public, private and civil society sectors in Dominican Republic, Guatemala, Madagascar, Niger, Uganda and Zambia through a solutions lab.

After being trained through a certified online course led by Impulsouth, 24 selected young professionals will integrate a solutions lab. The youth will receive seed funding, mentorship and peer-to-peer learning to develop solutions that respond to key climate challenges in their countries, identified during a previous research stage. The young professionals will also be able to apply for support to participate in international foras.
